Staying In Line

line_of_people

— Aisha Adams

I don’t know about you, but as a kid I loved being rewarded for finishing my chores, getting good grades and making the Honor Roll.

I was rewarded in many different ways: I was given money for bringing home A’s and B’s, received my favorite dessert, and allowed to go skating on the weekends.

Now on the other hand, when I was disobedient, I only received two things: A butt whooping or I was put on punishment. Now how many of you remember those days?

As I got older, things changed and the rewards were more difficult for me to earn. The reasons were 1.) I was a teenager 2.) I wanted to be “grown” or act like an adult. When I became a teenager, there was peer pressure, especially going into high school.

So as time went on and years went by, I would always try to remember this statement my dad would say to me, “Stay in line for your blessings,” when my parents gave me instructions or rules to obey. Now in my mind, I’m wondering, “What does that mean?” I finally figured it out as I began to study God’s word for myself and God revealed it to me.

Obedience leads to Honor - (Ephesians 6:1-3)

Respecting and honoring your parents leads to longevity to your life.

Obedience leads to Blessing – (1 Corinthians 15:58; Genesis 12:23)

By obeying and honoring God, He makes room for you to receive God’s promises in His Word.

Obeying leads to Joy – (John 15:10-11)

It gives great joy for your parents and God to see that you are accomplishing the mission He has called you to fulfill. God loves to see that you are fulfilling your purpose in life.

Today, ask the Lord to give you an obedient heart. Ask Him to show you what adjustments you need to make in your life.

When you give Him complete control of your life and walk in His ways and obey Him, you will experience God’s best and live the GOOD LIFE, the life the Lord has already prearranged for you to live!

If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land –Isaiah 1:19- (GWT)

I also remember my younger days. It always made me feel good when my dad would reward me for doing good. Even a simple praise. This is a good subject cause I believe it gives you also a directon in life, difference of doing right and wrong.

    Aisha,

That was right on time! I find myself struggling to be obedient in my adulthood. This is a great reminder as to why.

I like this very much, Boy do I remember those days & how! Too bad today’s young parents don’t practice these same values, guess that’s why our young men walk around with their pants sagging & their butts out for all to see. To bad we can’t go back in time & fix what’s wrong with our young people.
Keep up the good work my good friend!
    ;-)
