Open season on Christianity in entertainment isn’t a new concept. For decades, Hollywood have used Christianity and Christians as the butt of jokes without an uproar outside of well known faith groups.
We know that if the same jabs were at the gay and lesbian community, we know GLAAD and other LGBT organizations wouldn’t hesitate to shut it down.
When ABC premiered the show, GCB (Good Christian B*tches then changed to Good Christian Belles), I wasn’t surprised since it was yet another jab. It is a “sexy”, but shallow show that presents “Christian” women as sex crazed hypocrites.
It hasn’t taken long for viewers to take notice! According to the Chicago Tribune, the show scored its lowest ratings since its premiere, and is down 13% in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
One of the show’s stars, Kristin Chenoweth told ABCNews.com that, “The Bible tells us that we’re not supposed to judge, and people shouldn’t judge before seeing the show. I’m a Christian, I think that’s pretty well known, and I would never do anything that I think crossed the line.” Really?
I must say that that using the bible to defend a show titled “Good Christian B*itches” is low, but that’s Hollywood for you!
Hopefully viewers will continue to decline and show Hollywood it’s not okay!
