Zoe Life’s Cup of Word
It’s time to start unpacking this Monday!
Bag Lady you gone hurt your back
Draggin all them bags like that
I guess nobody told you
All you must hold on to
Is you. is you, is you……
I absolutely love this song by Erykah Badu! It describes a woman that has so much baggage that it’s weighing her down and as Ms. Badu puts it, “,,,when they see you comin’, ni**as take off runnin’…”
I’ve always said that at the most I may have a small carry on, but after much analyzing I may have a little bit more than I’d like to admit. It’s time to get real about what we may be carrying to the next job, friendship, or relationship.
Not a lot of people are willing to put up with the arduous task of helping you unpack and time’s a wastin’ (another Badu classic)
In the book of Ruth, Naomi instructed Ruth to wash herself and put on her best clothes BEFORE she went to Boaz’ threshing floor (Ruth 3:3).
In other words, she was told to remove the residue of her past in order to move into something new.
Whatever you are carrying, remember this:
Psalm 55:22 (NIV)This week start small. Every article removed is one step closer to freedom from every hurt or disappointment. Lastly, pack light from now on!
