While the state of Virginia has birthed some of Hip-Hop’s most notable artist, something different stands out about Obie One B.A., besides the last two initials of his stage name. Blessed musically for years, it wasn’t until recently that he began to use music in a spiritual and inspirational way.
Coming from a road that was leading him through many of life’s challenges, Obie has opened himself up to share how his life and music has been changed to glorify his Lord and Savior. With a highly anticipated album “Real Life, Real Music, It’s My Testimony,” making its way to shelves soon, Obie is an up and coming artist to watch.
With a resume that stretches back years before his Born Again days, Obie has always been an artist with a vast ability to string words together. After receiving his initial start in secular music through his status as one half of the Freekie Twinnz, Obie One B.A., knew there was more for him to do in music. Even though as a Freekie Twinn he sold thousands of independent CD’s, won competitions, received radio play, and obtained recognition from major recording label representatives, it was still time for a change.
After taking a long break and months after releasing another independent album subtitled “These Tracks Lead to a Change” Obie answered the call on his life by rededicating himself to his music and to a higher power helping create the B.A. (Born Again) Movement in 2007.
Since 2007 Obie One B.A has performed at a number of venues in the Atlanta area. He has shared the stage with well-known groups and performers such as Platinum Souls, James Cleveland GMWA Mass Choir, Dorothy Norwood, DeEtta West, The Spirit of Hip-Hop (Hot 107.9)’s DJ Mr. Watkins, and many other upcoming artists. Motivated by his need to make a musical impact in the industry, Obie One B.A.’s music breathe messages of hope, love, happiness, peace, and entertainment.
Not only is his music positive, but he shares problems, issues, and delves into worldwide Christian struggles. Taking the church to the streets and God to the beats, Obie has that soulful, street, underground, influential, and inspirational vibe throughout his music. In other words it is real life situations, really meaningful music, and the truth of his testimony through song.
With plans to change the image and message of what the world portrays music to be, Obie One B.A. believes that through staying in and standing on the Lord’s promise he will be allowed to compete and go just as far, if not farther than any other hip-hop artist that projects negative influences. Sharing a message that is God given, Obie One B.A. looks forward to being an award winning, album selling, spiritually motivating, soul saving, and life changing artist.
